Apprentice Arborist Level 2 - Tree Surgeon

Job description

Apprentices will work alongside our teams of arborists and landscape operatives on a broad range of live job sites.

You’ll be tasked with basic jobs while you find your feet. As your confidence builds and your capabilities increase you will be given more responsibility and you will be expected you to use your initiative.

A full time position will be offered after the apprenticeship has been completed. Progression through the company will be possible.

40 hours per week.
Monday to Friday 7.30 to 16.15 – Occasional weekend and out of hours emergency work may be required.

Training Provided

Full Arborist Apprenticeship Level 2.
City and Guilds Level 2 award in safe use of a manually fed wood chipper.
Traffic Management (NRSWA Unit 002 Signing, Lighting or Guarding).
City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting.
City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Competence in felling small trees up to 380mm.
City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Competence in tree climbing and aerial rescue.
City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Using a Chainsaw from Roped Harness.
Level 3 in Emergency First Aid at Work.

Entry requirements

GCSE grade 3 Maths and English or equivalent desired but not essential.
A genuine interest in the arborist industry.
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Basic understanding of health and safety practices.

Job description

Plantscape is looking for an experienced climber (with a minimum of 3 years’ climbing experience). You must be able to work to a high standard and take pride in your work. The post will see you working as part of a skilled team across most sectors – domestic, commercial, council, forestry and infrastructure.
